If you have a crystal-clear vision of your dream home, you know you want it to be perfect. Without a proper floor plan, the image of your home could crumble. Floor plans are the foundation of a great design and work as the most efficient way to view your home before it’s built. At Robin Ford Building, we work with you to design an ideal floor plan, and we promise to complement your idea as closely as we can. This article lists some considerations for designing your perfect floor plan.
Specify How You Want to Live
If you enjoy entertaining, place your entrance close to a family room. Opening up your entrance area signifies that you want visitors to feel welcome. If you live for peace and quiet, you should keep your bedroom or other relaxing rooms directly away from other high-traffic areas such as the kitchen. Remember to specify what kind of home you want before you start designing your floor plan.
Safety
Robin Ford Building will never construct an unsafe home, but some families have specific needs. If you must reach someone quickly and regularly, consider keeping their living area on the first floor. Also, consider who will be in your home to determine whether or not a staircase or second floor is ideal. It’s also a great idea to place children’s bedrooms near the master bedroom. You will want to have easy access, but you want to avoid crowding their growth by not being too close by.
Make Your Spaces Flexible
When those children move away or go to college, you want to ensure you can use that bedroom for something practical. Whether it’s converting it into an office or guest room, your spaces must be flexible. Try not to build rooms that are only dedicated to one purpose. For instance, a den that is too small to turn into anything else. You must go bigger if the space is too small to feel comfortable setting up a bed and sleeping in.
